Workflow at Franklin & Seidelmann Subspecialty Radiology

After a client completes the Implementation Process F&S follows a workflow process that is very common at most imaging facilities. Our key differential is our ability through our teleradiology platform to distribute images, information and reports quickly and securely between our national network of subspecialty radiologists and our clients. This enables our clients to access the hard-to-find subspecialty expertise no matter what their location is.

The illustration below represents a step-by-step diagram of F&S
workflow involved in processing a radiology report for a client.

Franklin & Seidelmann Integrated Workflow Proces

Step 1 – Scanning and Image Distribution
- F&S RT staff provides client with protocol support/education as needed
- Scan is performed at imaging facility
- Client modality connected to F&S server via a DICOM connection in order for F&S to receive images (F&S can also provide integration to client PACS as needed.)
- F&S utilizes a state-of-the art, co-located, Tier 1 Data Center for Internet and Networking capabilities with 99.99% availability, scalability, security and redundant backup

Step 2 – Order Request and Patient Registration
- Client orders the interpretation by faxing a patient registration form to F&S.
- The worksheet details patient demographics, clinical history, chief complaint, etc.
- F&S registration staff receives the form, ensures information is complete and enters order into the F&S RIS system.

Step 3 – Workflow Routing
- F&S trafficking team receives images in the PACS and associates them with the order
- Trafficking routes the study to the appropriate radiologist’s worklist based on license, insurance, subspecialty expertise and availability

Step 4 – Interpretation
- Radiologist dictates the report
- Voice file sent to F&S transcriptionist
- Radiologist consults with referring physician as needed

Step 5 – Transcription
- Transcriptionist types the report

Step 6 – Report Signature
- Radiologist reviews and electronically signs report

Step 7 – Report Distribution
- Report is faxed to the client, or client can access via the Web, or both

Step 8 – Analytics
- F&S can provide statistical analysis on report turnaround and referrer trends
- Detail on quantity and type of reports interpreted is provided with each F&S invoice.
